Harper Quill has always been inspired by movement and dance. Her journey began as a small child dancing with the Dallas Ballet. She was featured as a supporting cast member in The Nutcracker for several years. Harper then joined Austin Ballet Theatre in the early 1980s and continued to cultivate her love of ballet and modern dance. In addition to dancing, Harper was heavily involved in sports throughout her schooling including swimming for UT Aquatics, being co captain of St. Stephen's Field Hockey team, and being the first female on the male-only Austin High School and Westlake High School LaCrosse teams. Her involvement with her high school LaCrosse teams and her championing of equal rights for female athletes helped pave the road for high schools all over Austin to create school sanctioned, competitive female lacrosse teams.
In addition to playing sports, Harper was the assistant to the Austin High School Football trainer and medic where she learned basic triage techniques and received an introduction to sports injury rehabilitation.
Seven years ago, Harper discovered Pilates while working with other wellness and rehabilitative specialists to overcome previous sports injuries and injuries from an auto accident, as well as recovering from three natural births. Through her practice she has come to be a true believer in the work of Joseph Pilates and how Pilates as a whole can drastically improve life, health, reduce pain, and rehabilitate from injury.
In the fall of 2015, Harper graduated from the intensive RedBird Pilates Teacher Training and Apprentice program studying directly under directors Lee Vallely and Elisabeth Kristof. Harper is trained in Contemporary Mat, Reformer, Cadillac/Tower, Wunda/Exo Chair, Ladder Barrel, and Step-Ladder. Harper is a member of the Pilates Method Alliance.
Harper generously shares her knowledge of clean eating by following Peak Frequency and Alkaline diets. She has a love for cooking and the cultivation of a healthy community. Harper is on a mission to spread her love of Pilates and help others improve their lives and heal from injury.
"As a heavy rainstorm freshens the water of a sluggish or stagnant stream and whips it into immediate action, so does the Pilates Methods purify the bloodstream." - Joseph Pilates
